Cayman Expands Protected Ocean Areas

 In Uncategorized

The government has recently announced an expansion of protected ocean areas around the Cayman Islands. The regulations are mean to protect marine life and coral reefs, which are greatly affected by the amount of activity that frequents our waters.

So what does this mean in action? Fishing is prohibited in a few new coastal zones, and 10 dive sites around Grand Cayman are officially closed. But not to worry—there are more than 365 dive sites around the Caymans, which means even with the new restrictions, there’s still a dive site for every day of the year!

The health of marine life is so critical to our waters—and we’re pretty attached to our view here on Seven Mile Beach! We’re glad to see measures being taken to protect it.
