PIRATES, TRIATHLETES, AND A MARATHON—OH MY

 In Festival

During our annual Pirates Week in November we really get into it with a festival of spectacle and pageantry, celebrating our unique Cayman heritage and culture!

A dizzying array of events include mock pirate invasions, Heritage Days in each district, parades, parties, costume contests, happy hours, and many other activities across all of the Cayman Islands.

Festivities this year include a landing pageant, parade, food festival, street dance, a cardboard boat race, a children’s fair, an underwater treasure hunt, and so much more. Everything wraps up a week later, when the locals reclaim the islands and the marauding pirates are “sentenced” during a pageant that is followed by fireworks, a night parade, and a street celebration of food and dance.

The Cayman Islands Official Triathlon which will take place on November 6th, starting at 7am. There are two distances: The Sprint Triathlon and the Olympic Distance. Each year, over 170 athletes take part, with both individual and team entries.

The Cayman Islands Marathon takes place on the first Sunday in December every year. The 2016 event will take place on Sunday, December 4th. This event has a full marathon, a half marathon, a 4-person relay, and a Kids Fun Run. For more information:
