Celebrate Cayman’s Vibrant Culture: Batabano 2024!

In Activities, Family, Festival, Holidays, Seven Mile Beach

Since 1983, the Cayman Carnival Batabano, organized by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, has been a staple of the island’s cultural scene every first week of May. Its name, “Batabano,” honors Cayman’s turtling legacy, symbolized by the tracks left by nesting sea turtles on the beaches.

The 2024 Batabano events kick off with the Friday Night Fete “Outta De Blue” on May 3rd, setting the stage for a weekend of excitement and revelry.

Saturday, May 4th, is the peak of the celebration with the Adult Street Parade. The streets of Cayman burst with music, dance, and colorful costumes as thousands join the procession from Public Beach to Seafarer’s Way.

The day also features a Food Festival in the heart of George Town, adding a delicious culinary dimension to the celebration. The festivities continue into the evening with the electrifying Las’ Lap Street Dance. And it’s not over yet! On Sunday, May 5th, we celebrate Batabano Sunday, a day filled with yet more festivities and cultural experiences.

Finally, on May 6th, the celebration concludes with the J’ouvert Road Parade, offering one last opportunity to revel in the joyous spirit of Batabano.
